Glassdoor.com has identified competitiveness, creativity, friendliness, motivation, and trustworthiness as the five attributes most likely to get you employed, and Realself polled 400 individuals to grade photographs of women based on these criteria. They showed 200 survey takers before and after pictures of women who had cosmetic surgery. Nobody in either group realized they were seeing a “before” and “after” photo or even that plastic surgery was involved.
The primary findings are remarkable. Women who had cosmetic surgery, such as a chin implant, nose job, or Voluma dermal fillers, were rated higher in their afterimages. Voluma dermal filler recipients’ before and after photos showed the largest increase in trustworthiness, competitiveness, creativity, friendliness, and motivation.
Although medical aesthetics are not the most important factor in getting hired, they can offer you an edge if done tastefully and naturally. As with any competitive job market, job seekers often seek out aesthetic treatments to give themselves an edge.
The survey found that after someone has landed a job, maintaining that position through social approval is the top priority. In today’s youth-centric work climate, employees want to “feel more comfortable around the water cooler and fitting in, rather than feeling like the den mother or father,” as reported by Realself.
