An IBISWorld study found that ink-cleaning services would generate $83.2 million by 2020. Tattoo removal procedures have increased in popularity by a factor of 440 in the previous decade. The current revenue of this sector is $3.4 BILLION. As time goes on, it becomes evident that more and more people wish to get their tattoos removed. Which begs the question: what gives?
There is a wide variety of motivations for tattoo removal. Like Hollywood funnyman Charlie Sheen, you may have gotten rid of an ex’s name ink via laser surgery. Like Kelly Osbourne, you might have decided that your tattoo phase was an unnecessary digression from your otherwise perfect life story. Some people choose to get rid of their tattoos so they can focus on their careers, while others do it so they can start over with a clean canvas for a whole new tattoo.
The Harris Poll found that one in five U.S. adults is inked. Nowadays, many people who regret getting tattoos to choose laser removal. The procedure is straightforward. The ink in your tattoo will be shattered into very little bits when the laser is fired into it. Your body’s white blood cells pick up these fragments and transport them to the lymphatic system, where they are eventually eliminated.
