We’ll wager that you’re familiar with common procedures like laser hair removal and tattoo removal. They permeate our culture in every medium imaginable, from billboards to radio spots to television commercials. Although estheticians who have found their calling in the skin care sector are aware of the popularity of laser treatments, many lack the necessary certification to legally offer them to their clients.
Prior exposure to lasers is highly desirable. When looking for a new position in the skin care industry, estheticians may come across terms like “Must have laser certification” or “Experience preferred but not required.”
What do businesses want in an employee?
We scoured the wanted advertisements for medical esthetics roles and identified the top three requirements for success in this field.
Proficiency in dealing with customers
Very little effort is required for this. You probably have excellent people skills if you work in the skin care industry already. Obviously, you want your current customers to come back for more of your services. Companies value exceptional people skills and stellar customer service representatives.
Educational history in Esthetics
In addition to a cosmetology license, many employers like to see that a candidate has completed formal training as an esthetician and is licensed to conduct a variety of aesthetic procedures. As far as requests go, chemical peel and dermabrasion training were the most in demand.
Approval for the Use of Lasers
Prior exposure to lasers is highly desirable. Having experience with lasers, intense pulsed light (IPL), skin tightening, and/or radiofrequency will be required by most employers. You should detail the kinds of lasers and other equipment you’ve worked with in your past jobs.
