An Increasing Number of Men Are Getting Non-surgical Cosmetic Treatments, According to 2014 Asps Data

  • by

The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery released its most recent data for both nonsurgical and surgical cosmetic procedures in 2014. The most surprising statistic is not the $12.3 billion that was spent last year but the 43 percent growth in the use of these treatments among men over the past five years.

It’s true that there has been an increase in the number of males seeking non-invasive cosmetic treatments. Brotox and other “manscaping” grooming alternatives have gained popularity recently, and you may have heard about them. According to the ASAPS, male patients have seen a rise in the use of non-surgical skin tightening treatments (up 37%), IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) procedures (up 44%), and Botox (84%). There has been an overall 273% rise in the number of these procedures for men since 1997.

Although women have historically been the primary consumers of nonsurgical cosmetic treatments, this shift demonstrates that males, too, are becoming increasingly interested in preserving a young appearance without resorting to surgical procedures. Treatments like Botox and cosmetic fillers are becoming increasingly popular among males. This could be due to the fact that these cosmetic injectables need no recovery time, pose no risk, and produce noticeable effects rapidly.

Botox, dermal fillers, laser hair removal, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion were all mentioned as popular nonsurgical procedures. The rising demand for these therapies is evidence that more and more people want to look younger without undergoing invasive surgical procedures.
