Botox Has Long-term Skin Benefits, Says New Research

  • by

Botox cosmetic treatments, according to a recent study, may provide long-term, anti-aging effects for the skin.

The flexibility of the skin is largely responsible for its young appearance; nevertheless, as we age, the elasticity of the skin gradually decreases.

More and more people, both sexes, are seeking out rejuvenating wrinkle-reduction treatments as the medical aesthetics market expands.

Getting Botox Has Permanent Skin Benefits

Researchers in this recent study followed up with 43 female Botox recipients. These women’s elasticity “much improved” after four months of treatment. Wait, so how does this actually function? Magic? Nope.

Botox, a neurotoxin that has been used for cosmetic purposes since 2001, is injected into certain facial muscles. Botox temporarily reduces muscle activity to smooth out wrinkles and fine lines after injection.

In this study, the elasticity of the skin was measured by testing it on Botox-treated ladies with a special instrument. Botox works by reducing muscular movement, which has a rejuvenating effect on the skin by preserving its suppleness.

The benefits of Botox may extend beyond a temporary enhancement, as revealed by Good Morning America.

Currently, frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead furrows can all be treated with botulinum toxin injections. Botox injections are not only helpful for patients suffering from hyperhidrosis, but also for recurrent headaches.
