I was handed a flyer about three months ago when I went in for my annual gynecological checkup. The front desk clerk said, “Here.” The medical spas at a few of our locations are brand new, and we’ve only just begun providing the services they advertise. There’s a discount there if you want to look into it.”
After that, I went back to work and completely forgot about it until I read an article online claiming an increasing number of gynecologists and dentists were offering medical spa services like Botox. After reading on it, I realized why. In the United States, Botox and dermal fillers were the most popular nonsurgical treatments in 2017, with over 7 million procedures performed. The use of lasers for hair removal and skin rejuvenation also ranked highly. Okay, that makes sense, I thought. An enormous market exists for this.
Practically any doctor can learn how to administer Botox injections and use a cosmetic laser to treat patients on their own. As a result, it appears that many people have given in to the temptation now that insurance is not an issue.
