Following an Interview, Laser Technicians Should Do These Three Things.

  • by

You have completed your laser training and are now prepared to enter the competitive cosmetic laser job market. Perhaps you’ve already had some success in your job search, having written an excellent cover letter and having performed admirably in your initial interviews. But now comes the truly torturous part: waiting! You may increase your chances of getting noticed by prospective employers by doing a few things.

A Note of Gratitude

This might be apparent but bear with us. Thanking a potential employer through email is great, but bear in mind that you have no idea how many emails they receive daily. There’s a risk that it’ll get buried and forgotten. Thank you notes written by hand are more heartfelt than typed ones. One survey found that all executives valued handwritten notes more than electronic ones. If you want your thank-you message to arrive quickly, send it off as soon as possible.

Study for the Upcoming Interviews

Be ready for follow-up interviews even if you can’t be sure you’ll be invited to them. Perhaps the manager or president of the company will call you in for a meeting. In such a scenario, it’s best to be too prepared. Keep practicing your responses to interview questions so that you come out as confident and articulate. You can increase your level of assurance through preparation.

Checking In

Each company you apply to will likely have a unique procedure for following up with you. Pay close attention to what the teachers have to say. It’s acceptable to follow up through phone or email if a week has passed after you were told to expect a response but you haven’t heard anything. Wait a couple of days before inquiring about the post if they don’t give you a time period. Don’t contact me by phone or email every single day. As a result, it risks coming across as oppressive. The waiting game can be frustrating, but remember that patience is a virtue.
