  • by

You’re undoubtedly thinking of a future in the cosmetics industry if you’re looking up “esthetician school near me.” It’s easy to see the allure of working in the sector of self-improvement; after all, it’s typically attractive and provides direct access to clients. However, it’s important to have a clear idea of what to expect from esthetician school beforehand. Discover more as you read on!

Going to School for Esthetics Is a Fantastic First Step

Licensing requirements for estheticians vary from one state to the next. However, those who graduate from reputable esthetician programs are more likely to be successful in the field. You can get your foot in the door of the beauty industry with the help of the professionals teaching at esthetician schools.

You may expect to learn about anatomy, facial science, safety, sanitation, and skin sciences at any accredited esthetician school. Some of the higher programs may also provide training in areas such as salon management and promotion.

You Won’t Learn the Trade of Cosmetology at Esthetician School

Did you notice that I didn’t mention learning how to do your hair, nails, or makeup in the previous paragraph? Although some estheticians may also be cosmetologists, this is not typically the case.

Like esthetician licensing, cosmetologist licensing has different rules and restrictions in each state. In addition, although cosmetologists focus on the broader realm of cosmetics, estheticians are experts in the more specific realm of skincare.

You Can’t Become a Cosmetic Laser Technician by Going to Esthetician School.

The difference is almost $17,000! On the bright side, though, training to work with cosmetic lasers doesn’t require much experience.
