Tips For Photofacial Aftercare That You’ll Learn While Laser Training

  • by

Many women have turned to medical aesthetics treatments as a result of the aging process, which can cause our skin to look weary and lifeless.

An intense pulsed light (IPL) photo facial is a fantastic treatment choice if you want to regain your youthful glow. In addition to minimizing fine wrinkles, dark spots, and redness, it increases collagen production.

But did you know that for the greatest results, there are specific things you should do both before and after a photo facial treatment?

Prepare for Your Photofacial

Do not be afraid to interrogate. Many people who are considering getting a photo facial for the first time have questions about the procedure, including how much it will cost, what to expect during the procedure, and how many treatments would be necessary. You can better advise clients on whether or not they would benefit from a photofacial if you have completed the necessary laser training and certification.

Avoid the sun and tanning beds at all costs. Exposure to sunlight causes the body to produce melanin, which acts as a “protective” shield against the sun and can reduce the efficacy of a photofacial.

If you’re taking any kind of medication that thins your blood, don’t take it. Aspirin, ibuprofen (generic, Advil, Aleve, or Motrin), Vitamin E, fish oil, and omega-3 fatty acids are all drugs that can reduce the risk of bruising, so advise your clients to cease taking them a week before their photofacial consultation.

After a Photofacial, What to Expect

Put on some sunblock. During your cosmetic laser training, you will discover that the skin can become sensitive at any time of year, not just in the winter. Daily use of a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or above) is recommended to protect the skin from the sun.

You should give the treated region some breathing room. Pigments from sun spots and freckles will rise to the surface as the skin begins to recover, giving it a rough texture. Please give the treated region some space and time to recover on its own.

It’s important to wash using mild detergents. Use with caution, as harsh products may cause skin irritation and delay recovery. While the skin is healing, customers should use mild cleansers and fragrance-free moisturizers.
