Common Aesthetic Medical Treatments

Which of these popular procedures for improving one’s appearance can you predict? If you thought about Botox or laser hair removal, you’d be on the correct track. Here are the top five therapies:

  • Botox (7 million operations) (7 million procedures)

  • Dermal and soft tissue augmentation (2.6 million procedures)\

  • Adjective: “chemical peel” (1.3 million procedures)

  • Eradicate unwanted hair using a laser ray (1.1 million procedures)

  • Microdermabrasion (775,014 operations) (775,014 procedures)

Treatments that did not require surgery grew by 180% between the years 2000 and 2016! Growth in the use of Botulinum Toxin Type A (Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin)—the most popular treatment—was 4% over the previous year and 797% since 2000.
